He was extremely professional and so interested in our needs to early warning security. We are extremely satisfied with Voice Alert that now we sleep so well knowing that we will be alerted before intruders gain entry. I certainly would recommend this to every household.
Once again, many thanks to Riccardo for his prompt service and excellent installation.

I append my report about LAST NIGHT!!!!!!!! Voice Alert woke us up!

I would prefer you not mention the use of Voicealert by our neighbourhood watch in the __witheld__ Valley area because the miscreants are not yet quite sure how they are being detected. The Neighbourhood Watch crowd have been detaining many people. They are equipped with Night Vision, radios, pepper guns and are doing an amazing job.
Apart from my story below, last night they caught another two.

Below I include an Abridged copy of police report by Richard Warren (ID 4**********82) of xx Maris Rd, __suburb withheld__.
At 01:30 on Monday 13 February 2006 we were alerted by our Voicealert system to intruders on our premises in our pool area. I went out to investigate, followed by my wife who remained on our upstairs stoep area. On starting to descend from our upstairs area to the pool level down the steps, two males ran from a bougainvillea bush in which they had been hiding, and jumped over the fence to our driveway. They appeared to be in their early teens, and one wore a red shirt.
We then became aware that there were two ADT vehicles at the foot of our drive, and an ADT security operative on the adjoining property, 39 Marais Rd, at the fence which separates the properties. They were immediately joined by a SAPS vehicle, and subsequently by additional SAPS and ADT vehicles.
The intruder then jumped over the wall between the steps and the pool area and fell onto the brick paving, where he was handcuffed by a member of SAPS.
A search was conducted for the other two intruders, but this was unsuccessful. While inspecting the damage to the electric fence, we discovered that a fence paling had been damaged and removed, allowing access through the wires of the electric fence.

*From agent: A client in a townhouse complex just gave me feedback”
They were robbed, and this prompted them to call me. We identified where the intruders had climbed an exterior wall and then zigzagged over all the unprotected walls of the complex to their unit. I put in a VoiceAlert with 5 sensors.
Three days later, the guys came back! The VA started going off at 02h30, every 3 minutes IN 2 ZONES! They then switched it off because they couldn’t sleep! Can you believe it!
They actually phoned me at 08h30 and said the system was interfering with their sleep and please to come check it. I told them to check because I didn’t think it was malfunctioning.
At 09H00 they went out, came back at 10H00, everything was gone! (incidentally they had just had the townhouse painted the previous week! So…..)
I arrived just after this to check the system. The buggers had been lying on the roof all night being picked up by 2 sensors I had placed to do just that and well. Anyway, are they now upset with themselves. I ask you…!!!

Had another client who I have put in two Receivers for. One covering the front and one the rear of the house, plus umpteen sensors (his request!).
It paid off! His house was under threat on four successive nights, twice each night. The police would respond in their nice PC way, stroll the garden and begin to leave and the bastards would be climbing the rear wall before they closed the front gate! Anyway he is so pleased with life he is trying to get me married to his daughter!
I personally think the biggest plus VA provides us with is two-fold!
1) It successfully helps to prevent confrontation and thus avoids a very real threat of violence AND
2) it helps to allow the necessary time one requires to prepare oneself mentally and physically for whatever is going to occur!
This is vital now that we live with the inability to protect ourselves from violent criminals who normally have surprise, the weapons and no fear of the consequences. The battle was insanely one-sided! With VA we buy back some of that. That is invaluable!
I am hyped by the product!

* Editor’s summary of letter submitted to us:
Gaylin Underwood knew about VoiceAlert for some time, but did not need it for herself. After a recent incident involving her mother, she has become a ‘believer’. One of the saddest things we deal with are an endless stream of similar stories from client who wait till they have a tragedy before making the decision to Buy VoiceAlert

Key extract from story:
“…If my mom had a VoiceAlert system, she would have known exactly where these attackers were prowling around outside before they even broke into her home! She would have been able to phone the police and her brother. She could have shone a torch on them and shouted at them from behind the burglar bars. Hindsight………!!!”
****

I just wanted you to read this to. I am really pissed off about crime!!! It sucks. This is a letter I wrote to friends today, also in the hope that they will forward it on to others. I wanted to speak to you about going to demo a unit to my Mom. I will arrange payment you in the next few days, for the invoice you sent. Speak to you later.
Gaylin

OPEN LETTER FROM Gaylin Underwood wife and mother of two girls
I am angry, really angry about the threat to all of our personal safety. As a woman in South Africa, one does feel more vulnerable and with good reason, the latest crime figures show that 350 woman are raped per day in our country, a staggering 124 600 per year! (That’s only the ones that are reported). The official figures in SA for murder are 20 000 per year!
This is personal and very close to home for me – on Friday night my mom was attacked in her home and I am involved with a security system that is designed to protect people against exactly this!!! I feel awful that she didn’t have this early warning system, but she has burglar bars, and felt safe.
My mom fell asleep in front of the TV and woke up at 11:30pm, hearing some strange noises. She stood up and was confronted by two men who had broken in through the burglar bars in the downstairs section of her home, she was attacked, but thankfully managed to escape onto her balcony and scream desperately for help. I can’t tell you how fortunate she is to have got away from her attackers with only a very bad black eye, bruised face and emotional wounds. (It’s hard to sleep after something like this.) I am equally grateful that my 9 year old niece was not with her that night, because she would have been asleep where these guys broke in. If my mom had a VoiceAlert system, she would have known exactly where these attackers were prowling around outside before they even broke into her home! She would have been able to phone the police and her brother. She could have shone a torch on them and shouted at them from behind the burglar bars. Hindsight………!!!
I am very fortunate to live in a very low crime area, but the reality is that it’s not this safe in most parts of South Africa. My mom lives in Simons Town. When I was in Cape Town – Hout Bay a month ago, there was a family that was broken into while watching the Olympic games closing ceremony (8pm) they were robbed by three armed men, they were verbally threatened but thankfully no one was physically injured. But how did they get inside when everything was locked? They removed the security gate from it’s hinges! If you don’t feel safe, please consider what VoiceAlert can do for your safety.
I would like to help as many people as possible to improve their personal safety. If you need this kind of security and are ‘just not sure’ if you need it yet… let me explain: e-mail: khaizen2@mweb.co.za
Ps. Please feel free to forward this e-mail to any of your family or friends that you feel may benefit from this system.

I just placed an order for our daughter, son-in-law and little one who were cleaned out last week. They live in a very secure boomed area in the northern suburbs of Jhb and while the VoiceAlert would not have prevented this event, it will most certainly give them a lot more confidence in the future (knowing that just being behind a boom is not enough).

Last night at about 11pm our voice alert said ‘Somebody at the front door’ since we live in a complex we didn’t think too much of it. My boyfriend got up and went to close the bathroom window, as he got back into bed the voice alert triggered 3 times saying ‘Someone in the back garden’

We pulled the curtain aside and there were 3 men standing in our back garden, 2 were crouched in the corner and one was busy walking towards our back door. We immediately pressed the panic button and they ran.

In March a similar incident happened but we did not have the voice alert system yet and we only caught them once they were inside our flat, they managed to get away with a few of our valuables, at least they didn’t manage to steal anything last night, and they couldn’t come close enough to harm us.

I am the manager of a large guest house set on a seven hectare property in constantia.

After our Establishment was ransacked; whilst we had guests staying in the house; we contracted Mark to install a Voice alert system.
Because of the size of our property and the thick vegetation and numerous trees a cabled system was not a viable option. The WIRELESS VOICE ALERT system proved to be the perfect solution.
On the first evening after the system was installed it proved its effectiveness by detecting another intruder. We suspect it was the same culprits as before returning to steal the cars to which they had previously stolen the keys.

In our situation the voice alert system allows our security guard to effectively detect and locate anyone attempting to enter the property.
It is very easy to operate and can be used in any location on the property which is convenient on nights when the security is not on duty. I would recommend the voice alert system to anyone who needs to monitor the perimeter of their property without constantly setting of burglar alarms.

I just want to share an important lesson learned about the WirelessAlert (TextAlert) system:
As a community, we have installed WirelessAlert sensors along the public paths in the green belts and mountains around our suburb. Being a member of Neighbourhood Watch, I am a recipient of certain Sms messages generated by the community’s WirelessAlert installation when sensors adjacent to my property or intruder movement along the path toward my property are detected. (This unique ability to notify me only of intruders coming toward my property – while not bothering me when prowlers are moving away from my property; but notifying others who live in that direction, is absolutely fantastic).
Last Saturday night was extremely cold and windy. Though I rarely get warnings triggered by the system, sms warnings started go come through – first indicating someone moving along a public path toward my location, and then indicating movement at a particular position adjacent to my property fence. I guess it was sheer laziness while warm and comfortable in front of TV, but I convinced myself that since the same zone was repeatedly triggering, this must be due to the heavy foliage in the area doing what it has never done before – causing a false trigger. I have an electric fence and beams on the inside of the fence, so I felt secure but I was sure in for a rude shock.
After receiving no less than 4 Sms warnings from the fence boundary, I was about to turn that zone off with an Sms to the system (a very nice feature), when no more warnings came through – so I assumed the problem was resolved.
About 6 minutes later I heard a loud scream from my wife and ran to the bedroom from which she was fleeing. She had just seen three men trying to lift out the sliding door. We hit the panic buttons and armed response arrived a few minutes later. Investigations on our boundary shocked me. We found that lengths of garden hose pipe had been slit in their length and used to insulate our electric fence, making it as ineffective as any regular fence – and somehow these guys had got right past our active beams – I know they were active because I checked after the incident, and we checked them with the armed response guys present. I have always believed that beams are infallible and the suppliers convinced me that nobody can get around them, but that is clearly not the case.
In the moments after we pushed the panic button and raised the alarm, Sms warnings again came in and went to others from the TextAlert sensors on the public paths as these guys fled the area, so police were able to pick up on their direction of flight. I must say that this has been a huge lesson learned. I won’t ignore the Sms warnings ever again, I won’t trust that my electric fence makes me a fortress, and I won’t rely on my beams as I used to. I am also going to put in one of these VoiceAlert units into my garden that you guys have on your website.
I guess I can only finish up by saying ‘Thank You’
